Peeple, the new app that was in the works recently came under intense scrutiny when the founder explained that it would allow others to "rate" you, similar to the way Yelp and other social sites do for businesses. As you might expect, that didn't sit well with most people, as you could easily turn it into a breeding ground for negativity and another way for online bullying to spread. The app's creator insisted that it was a "positivity only" app, but that clarification written by her in an open letter on LInkedIn didn't seem to help as the app's website and social media platforms seemly vanished out of thin air a few days later.
We have covered TV viewing habits and how they have changed over the years, but online apps and TV on-demand have rapidly accelerated more than anyone could imagine. The ways in which we consume content is completely different than 10 years ago with services like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, and now even independent channels like HBO releasing on-demand apps.
In addition to how technology and the Internet have affected how we consume TV content, it has deeply influenced our everyday lives, especially the selfie. Anderson Cooper's recent special revealed that the average teenager take up to 750 selfies a day to find one that they want to post.
