Wednesday Sep 25, 2013
Do you know Amy Scruggs? WHAT?! She's a country music star with a fantastic band and a huge heart for Wounded Warriors. What a coincidence, THAT's on of OUR FAVORITE CAUSES!
Amy played today in studio with her band as the prepare for a benefit concert. She's more than a talented country music artist, she has the most beautiful heart, almost as beautiful as she is outside!
A bit about Amy:
Raised in San Dimas California, Amy has been singing since the age of
three. Mother of 4, she finally lived out her dream that has always been rooted
in country music. While in Nashville, Amy caught the attention of many industry
professionals for her powerful vocals and passion for supporting our troops.
Amy was featured in the July 09 issue of Country Weekly Magazine as well as
the Sept 09 cover story for Nashville Music Guide. Her contagious spirit and her
passion resonate to all who hear her. She has overcome tremendous
circumstances and obstacles and now uses that to bring hope and
encouragement through her music. Amy’s Patriotism shines through in her known
traditional version of the National Anthem. In 2011 Amy was chosen to perform
the National Anthem at Dodger Stadium for the 10 year anniversary of 9/11. Amy
performed at Dodger Stadium at the request of the United States Army, Los
Angeles Recruiting Battalion.
Since 2008, Amy has opened for many country music greats including;
Trace Adkins, Clint Black, Charlie Daniels, Little Texas, Hal Katchum, Phil
Vassar, Josh Gracin and others. Amy's single “Coming Home” written by Dave
Adams and produced by Paul McKenna is a celebration song for our heroes.
Amy was officially endorsed by the American Veterans (AMVETS) service
foundation for California from 2009 through 2011. At the beginning of 2010 Amy
decided to set aside touring and dedicate her musical talents completely to the
Veterans and Troops for all her performances. Amy’s oldest son, Ryan Scruggs,
stepped into lead guitar in 2011 and shared the stage and dream with her by
performing alongside her. Ryan is also credited with writing much of their new
music. After years of life changing work behind her, Amy took a break from
touring full time and she reentered the business world. Amy now resides in San
Diego, CA and performs upon request at events honoring our veterans and
heroes, while continuing to appear for speaking engagements. She continues
outreach to the veteran community and women’s and children’s organizations
while enjoying her position as Business Development Manager for New American
Funding of San Diego. Amy continues to use her life experiences as humorous
stories to help encourage people to have a healthy, positive perspective for daily
life and its many challenges

September 4: Skin care, foodies and Bryan teeters on going gluten free
Wednesday Sep 04, 2013
Wednesday Sep 04, 2013
Today's show included Mary Wight from Dr. Bhoyrul (she's the dietitian), Suzanne Mulroy (a health and beauty veteran), Angie and her son Nick Kazmarek who is doing a nutrition food blog for teens. I have a photo.
We talked about cosmetics (specifically for your face and the routines that companies want you to follow). We were first dropping the new sales method of change your skin care routine every three months and that truly in most cases the only difference between a man's product and woman's product is the packaging. Obviously, men don't want a cleanser with a pink rose on it. Even if it works...lol. Bryan uses Lab Series and he loves it. Yours truly uses a combination of Clinique and Mary Kay with a few toes dipped into MAC. Lots of the companies are coming out with multi-lines so they don't lose you with this change your skin care regime every three months as your face and skin becomes accustomed to what you are using and you lose its effectiveness.
We also talked with Mary a lot about hydration and that you have to fill up the inside to look good on the outside. We talked about eating healthy diet and how it doesn't have to be hard or require signing up for some formulated regime. Eat plain, clean food.
Angie's son is writing a food blog because he was sensitive to many foods like Bryan, even though Bryan's habits aren't where they should be - YET. We will be talking more about that in the upcoming weeks as well. There is a test you take that tells you everything your body is allergic to. Bryan's test came back with everything except watermelon! I'm serious. He just can't pull the trigger to go all the way Gluten Free but is trying.
